I was fortunate enough to be able to kill some time wondering around Maule Manufacturing in Moultrie, GA. Ray Maule the son of the founder went out of his way to walk me around the factory explaining this area or that. It was fascinating. Ray is the second of four generations working in the family owned business. Maule manufactures almost all of the parts from raw materials that go into building their aircraft. In these pictures you will see the welding area(fuselage and empennage), sheet metal fabrication(wings and control surfaces), final assembly(covering and systems), and avionics(all the latest - folks are getting very sophisticated panels in these planes). It was very interesting and I have a great appreciation for these planes especially now that I have seen how they are built.
