January 4. Emu & chicks

Exposure is all wrong. We were driving in the country when we spotted these Emus.
I have never seen an Emu with young ones.
Quickly stopped and took a couple of shots before they moved out of range.

I am so glad you stopped, and so glad I found the image. We used to raise emu and this brings back so many good memories. They are amusing and wonderful creatures.

No doubt hard to expose properly with bright grasses and dark birds. I like the DOF with the blurry background. Great shot!!

I like it a lot Sheila. Good detail on the birds and the nearby grasses but he BG is well out of focus.

This Canon Telefoto lens working perfectly in your hands, is amazing how the stabiliser of this lens is working. I always carry it in my bag. Is it a bit heavy for you?
This is an excellent composition of a quick shot.

Don't know about dinner Al, but one egg would make a very BIG pavlova :) The chicks aren't bothered but mum is aware of you. Good find.
