Pattersons Curse from a balloon

view map

The purple plants are an introduced weed which has spread from the eastern states of Australia. It spreads very rapidly and is hard to eradicate.
A real curse to farmers, it nevertheless looks very attractive covering paddocks and hills.
Near Northam, Western Australia

It is so pretty isn't it, such a shame it is a curse!

It does look like lavender... shame it doesn't serve as useful a purpose, although it does look so pretty!

I agree, a curse could not be more beautiful :)
although I can see how it would not help farmers unless the purple flowers were lavander that they could sell :)

It behaves rather like Purple Loostrife here in the US....a "scourge" but very pretty en mass...
