13. Lake Joondalup after summer

Lake Joondalup is an important wetland area for thousands of birds.
This is how it looked this morning, very dried up after our long
hot summer. We have had no rain yet, but we do have some clouds:-)

Makes gorgeous reflections. Praying for rain for you soon. We had none last year and it was bad but the rains came again and our lakes are now full again. This is gorgeous!

Amazing reflections but a shame about the water levels
Karen Stuebing16-Apr-2012 21:55
Love the composition and the way the sky is magnified in the water. Looks like quite a few birds there.

A lake full of clouds - it's all very abstract - I like :o)
Brian Samuel16-Apr-2012 19:53
What a great affect. It almost looks like two different pictures joined at the waterline.
Colin Storey16-Apr-2012 19:23

Beautifully captured. Hoping you have a wet winter to bring it back to its normal level.

That water certainly does look low, and I love those reflections ...v
Yvonne16-Apr-2012 08:05
Gosh, the water is low... here's hoping some rain will come your way SOON Sheila! I
wonder if that nearby township has any problems with mozzies! Beautiful reflections...

A great capture. The straight line between wet and dry makes a good contrast. But I would prefer to see the waterline where it should be, far in the background. BV

always fascinating the development of nature during drought periods
like the clouds and the blue sky reflection against the pink of the dried up wetland

never a pretty sight...must admit I do like green better than brown

An interesting and imaginative composition, Sheila. You have certainly had a long hot summer with no end in sight as yet. I enjoyed playing golf at the wonderful Joondalup course years ago.
shatterbug16-Apr-2012 07:06
Interesting choice to give this priority to the reflected sky, and on second look, there are lots of details to observe!
