Canon 24-105 f/4 L IS

Received this lens on 21 October. This gallery is just testing different apertures, focal lengths and shutter speeds. No sign of any infamous flare yet. As with my 17-40, I shoot using centre focus mode, using Custom Function 4:01 on my 20D and RAW (of course!) I might add that it is taking me a fair while to get used to this lens. But I feel that eventually it will become indispensable - I hope!

I would like to have 24-105 f4 on Full film ~~~~~~
it would be much more better for portrait photo~~~
but well. I m in Nikon system... which is too bad... i don't have such of option.

Great images Sheila.I am currently using Canon 30D with 17-40L lens.I am also using my old 70-300mm EF lens for my telephoto shots. Quality is not that great without a tripod.I am thinking about buying a reasonable size zoom lens.70-300L is to bulky.Do you recommend 24-105L for this purpose?

My preference would be the superb 17-40 on both a 20D and my 5D.

Great photos. Did you find 24mm wide enough for general walkabout on your 20D? Do you think it would be wide enough for general landscape and cityscapes on a 20D?

Great Gallery!
It's a pitty that you use the hihg quality RAW, but that you don't use Adobe RGB in stead of sRGB (I saw this in your EXIF info)!
In the DTP world sRGB is called shitRGB because you throw away a part of the color information....
for the rest I can see you placed great pictures and this encourages me to by my 5D with this lens. It would be a great lens for travelling.

Sheila, do you find the 24mm not wide enough at times on your 20D? I have the 17-40 but find the 24-105 tempting. Great shots, BTW!

The 24-105 is a similar size to my 17-40 and 135 f/2 so no real difference there. If you think this lens is large with the 20D, try literaly picking up a Canon 1D MarkII - without any lens on the front! Much too heavy for me - that's why I bought the 20D a year ago.

How do you find the size of the 20D / 105 combo.
It seemed somewhat large in store?
