28 June

This barometer is old - as old as me!
When I was born my parents lived with my Auntie and Uncle; many families shared homes in the years after the Second World War.
To thank them my parents gave them this barometer.
When my Auntie died 3 years ago (2 weeks off her 100th birthday) I was given the barometer which is proudly hung on my lounge wall.
It works too, as you can see - the top, black hand has moved from very dry, through fair, and looks like it's heading for change!
It reminds me of visits when I was young to house with no electricity, only gas lights, Yorkshire ranges and stone sinks, but immaculate.

Nikon D70
1s f/16.0 at 105.0mm full exif

other sizes: small medium large auto

I love old fashioned things too. I can't get the hang of constantly replacing things that are perfectly good.

Nice shot, and a great reminder of how we used to check the weather before the internet!
