2 January: Buttons

When Laura came home at Christmas she had lost a button off her coat and so...out came the button box.
Does everyone have a button box or is it just me?!
We spent a good few minutes reminiscing over what garment various buttons came from.
Yes we found one and, of course, me, being mum, sewed it on!
PS: Not sure how the tiddlywink got in there!

I had an old elastoplast tin full of buttons and this image made me feel quite nostalgic. Somehow modern life seems to consign things like this to the past even though that seems wrong. A couple of years ago I met a girl who made jewellery out of old buttons so I gave her my tin and hopefully some of my old treasures are now adorning the necks or wrists of her customers.
