Visit ....Village of Fatima

Fatima was a small rural village in a rocky region whose main product was olive oil. There are no historical or legendary accounts of the village or surrounding area having any religious importance in earlier times of pre-Fatima prophesy.

Life was simple and quiet at the village where the Martos and Santos grew up a century ago in the beginning of 1900s.

Fatima village was not any way like Fatima city where we stayed at the hotel. There were souvenir shops here and there as we parked the bus, and walked to the houses of the Seers. It could be Monday as we came to the place; the pilgrims outnumbered the villagers standing outside their houses selling souvenirs. Except for the shops open for commerce, the rest of the village was quiet and few residents seen around, except some passing small cars.

The houses were made of bricks with white stucco and red roof tiles, the village road pavements were brick-like cobblestones. Streets were clean, and well kept throughout, the roads hugged around the houses whichever the directions took your eyes to.
