Day 04 of 07. August 18, 2009


Escalante was a short stop in transit on our way to Capital Reef. The drive on freeway 12 passing Dixie National Forest was beautiful with aspens standing in groups versus the red rock landscape behind us. Dixie would be my photographic choice in the fall with its color changing, winding roads, and hilly landscape, very much like the Colorado rocky mountains.

We stopped by Escalante visitor center, not too far from its State Park, and Petrified Forest which required some short hike to see the petrified tree trunks on the ground. The center was modern, stood out from the vast landscape before getting to the next interested destination.
