EN ROUTE TO MEDJUGORJE

Our bus continued more than an hour going through the countryside, after passing the Croatia into Bosnia. The landscape remained the same, houses were shanty, scattered. The soil was harsh filled with rocks. The town had attracted pilgrims since the beginning of apparition in 1980s under the siege of war, the village landscape and economy at the presence were drastically changed lately in the free market world for the recent past 10 years; especially the flow of pilgrims had arrived from all over the world bringing in the prosperity. Our original driver from Lisbon, Spain, were very skillful commanding the bus through the narrow two-lane roads into the small towns, somewhat dusty and minimum road sides. Here was the farthest eastern destination of the pilgrimage.
