St. Elias (aka the Prophet Elijah), representing the Carmelite Order in one of 39 statues of founder saints. The statue is in the west end of the church, on the right side of the nave on the Pier of St. Helena (NW pier). Tradition has it that Elias is the founder of the Order of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, which developed the a mountain in Israel on which Elijah lived a kind of monastic life.
