Road to Glen Canyon ...> IMG_6511.jpg

The opening in V-shape @top right above the hill was the final entry into the town of Glen Canyon, after a long drive in the empty desert.

Where is the town of Glen Canyon??
Lee's Ferry, Marble Canyon or Page maybe?

I think this may be described as the Vermillion Cliffs as one goes to Mable Canyon. A very unique red oxide colored sandstone formation along Alt89. The white spot showing on the cliff, most likely, is the home of nesting condors that have been re-established in the area.

The desert is seldom empty ... lack of man's impacts maybe ... but a unique dynamic biome of its own.

You and I were in the same area in August, you must plan a hike into "the Wave" a very awesome land formation and well worth the time. Did you visit "Rainbow Canyon"? It, too, is worth the very short walk. It is a commercialized slot canyon (a Navajo "casino") but worth the expense. Both are great examples of the wonders of the "empty desert".

Another drive to take is the Burr Trail. It is as good as Zion and Bryce Canyons, but fewer people.

Thanks for sharing your WONDERFUL photos.
