The Martos residence was very neat, clean as we saw it, yet better than the American early houses remained as a ghost town in the west in the early 1900s, these early homes were even worse being constructed with wood panels not bricks, and much smaller as we saw here.

The home was made out of bricks and red roof tiles, there was no front yard. The front door walked into the village paved street. Their parents were considered as the poor class at the time. The young Martos spent their childhood in school and herded sheep after class, together with their cousins, Lucia, toward the Fatima hills as their daily routine rural way of life. There was some small lot of land in the back with homegrown veggies, the kind of veggie special in every house in the region.
