I've catched a train on soooooooo many occasions from that station. Often having a camera with me and yet......never ever got close to shooting anything as good as this!! Brilliant work

Staircases are intended to help people get to the next level. In this case, nobody seems to be going to the next level. Instead, they use the steps as seats, or else as a place to wait for someone, except for the couple up top, who use the steps to express mutual affection. Nobody is using these steps for their intended purpose. That is the essential incongruity you have realized and capitalized on here, Kal -- and you do so brilliantly.

Fantastic - Interesting "symmetry"

There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold
And she's buying a stairway to heaven
And when she gets there she knows if the stores are closed
With a word she can get what she came for

Apparently staircases get all the action in Brussels. :)
However, this is what happens when the party is over:

There is no life in the twilight zone, not even for the couple in their grim embrace. In here, being and nothingness are all the same.

Excellent, so much going on without motion! It couldn't have been set up better than this.....Love it..:>

Shall I count them
As obstacles,
Or opportunities
As I incline my ambitions forward.

Wow, you make this look like a stage!

Yes, this looks almost to ordered not to be set! And this curve on the top looks like a gift wrap for it. Luckily, David is wrong: There is a racial mix on the right side.

An strangely ordered scene. I didnt realise that apartheid existed on staircases in Belgium. The arrows and numbers in the back are kind of hilarious trying to make sense of the scene and the way they imply direction and movement is a sweet juxtaposition. Ace one.

Notice the arrows please... ;-)

yes, great moment! it's the girl on the right of the photo that makes it for me. really emphasizes a robotic theme, the monotony, the waiting...

Looks like he is unable to decide which side to turn.
