Fantastic, Kal. The scene is really interesting, so many things happen here. And your composition, and the light are wonderful too.

We are the fireflies.Caught within our sputtering phosphorescent age.As our eyes hum electric and prey upon the hidden hush of night.Scouring pensively among fleeting spark or ink dabbed conversations.

Own pace, own space. What a great contrasting form of knowledge and addiction. So well seen and juxtaposed. Somehow it strangely reminded me that we should send more handwritten letters and cards instead of emails :-) And have a wonderful book launch. My sincere congrats once again!

Hi Kal
Another fantastic image. Perhaps I'll get a chance to buy your book this evening. In Shanghai at the moment.
Take care

An eloquent social comment, Kal. You underscore the differences in culture, lifestyle, and communication, and add a touch of irony as well. The guy with the book probably runs this cafe. Yet he gets his own information and satisfaction from an old fashioned book. I agree with Jen that by abstracting those inside the shop, you are commenting on the faceless nature of cyberspace, and favoring the old fashioned way of the scholar -- book in hand. The body language is also expressive -- those on the internet bend forward as if submissive slaves to an electronic master, while the man with the book appears to be quite comfortable with himself.

Really?? Wow! it sure looks different from any other I've seen before.. no wonder that guy prefers the book ;)

I love the way you abstracted the faces of the internet users, implying a sense of aimless, addiction. While you show the face of a book reader, he seems to be enchanted and his mind is out there in a much more wonderful place. Is this the reflection of your taste too? Rather spending a night with a good book? :)

I imagine him waiting for a friend to finish their cyberspace jaunt.. ahhh the beauty of a book.
Strangely, I am finding books more of a draw lately.. I think I might have found a cure..lol
Excellent, Kal..

Fabulous! There's a juxtaposiiton. The contrast curling up with a work of fiction or history and cramming yourself into internet space to most probably undertake bouts of inane chat is beautifully realised here. Masterpiece.
