The B&W works great for me because I was reminded by your title of a very sad song " Tears In Heaven".. The light is like tear-drop falling from heaven... Sad but beautiful...

As a leaf I could not hide from the gauntlet gaze of autumn rustling through the prayerful weave of forest cloisters. And I cowered in silence as only reverend timidness could. With their silver eyes frowning me low into stoney shadow. So that I could not turn away from their penetrable intent, even in the remotest corner of my dream.
I agree with Phil.. Shooting this one in b&w really made a difference. It's so beautiful though.. darkness & light balancing themselves wonderfully on that cool angle you chose to photograph this one...
You go against expectations here, Kal -- shooting a cathedral genre that is almost always made in color (such as my own athttp://www.pbase.com/pnd1/image/33923914 ) in black and white instead. You remove it from its reality and deal instead with with the simple design of the windows themselves instead of their color. Of course, I have no idea of knowing if these windows are fitted with stained glass or not. If they were not, your choice of black and white makes even more sense, if your intention is to express sobriety instead of exultation.
