:))) I love the fact that she has her own space and that makes a frame within your frame. She is so engaged with her work, and not as agressive as the sellers in your photos of yesterday...

:)A masterpiece from Elliott Erwitt,http://www.magnumphotos.com/c/htm/CDocZ_MAG.aspx?Stat=DocThumb_DocZoom&o=&DT=ALB&E=2K7O3RNYMZ3&Pass=&Total=247&Pic=1&SubE=2S5RYDWA3TLM

I was first attracted by the juxtaposition of two different shops side by side, divided by a supporting pillar and its resting bike, waiting for the end of business day of its owner. One is a proper store, selling popular yet unhealthy product (cigarettes). While the other requires sitting on her knees, a much tougher and humbled business. She seemed trapped in a little glass box, yet so ready to serve with her hands. While the other shopkeeper is nowhere in sight. And I was also noted the contrasting arrangement and color of their products. Just so much to see and interpret! Excellent.
(BTW I LOVE these chinese cakes, especially the red bean ones at top right corner. Could you kindly buy and send me some? :D)

I find if fascinating that both you and Jen independently use the abstracted shopkeeper as themes. http://www.pbase.com/angeleyes_zyl/image/65305082 ) You each abstract the person in different ways. Jen does it vertically and you find a way to do it horizontally. I used a similar technique, shooting through the glass window of a sandwich stand in Laos (http://www.pbase.com/pnd1/image/40174218 ) but did not abstract the face, just the body, of the vendor. A very expressive image, Kal -- due to the degree of incongruity achieved through abstraction.
