I prefer this version for the splash of pink, which gives a softer atmosphere, it's a very fascinating image, capturing it against the light was a wonderful idea.

It is magic. Like part of an illustrated bedtime book of stories for children. He paddles very slowly, almost silently and respectfully to avoid upsetting the mountain spirits.

It seems this shot comes from another age, when things was more simple. Outstnding atmosphere and soft colors. Excellent Kal! Roberto

Ah, the Li River -- you have done it justice, Kal. Instead of dwelling on the spectacular scenery, you give us an iconic image of a fisherman at work. It is nice to know that some aspects of China will never change -- this is an image that could well have been made 50 or 60 years ago, yet its date says 2006. It is, as others have already implied, the degree of abstraction that makes this image enter the imagination. You leave it to us to make of him what we will.

It's almost like an image from a dream. The fisherman poles his way to the misty mountains, leaving a golden and glowing trail behind him. I wonder if in his hard work day, he ever stops to ponder how beautiful his surroundings sometimes are.

I simply freezed when I clicked on the thumbnail. I was afraid that any single move would ruin the perfect scene and the mixed bag of feelings it's giving me. To me, it's a truly amazing picture. The mood, the abstraction, the slice of light, the distorted reflection, ... very well thought and executed. Huge vote.
(And thanks, Kal for your kind message. I'm looking forward to tomorrow... :-))
Guest 26-Jul-2006 14:29

Guest 26-Jul-2006 13:13
As a leaf paddling upon across a twilight mirror of slumbers.Caught in a deja vu dream somewhere between the pages of day and night. In a moment of purpose and peace.

For me one of your best Kal.
david procter26-Jul-2006 12:12
I think you've captured this fisherman (and his bird) perfectly in his element going about what he was born to do as his father and his father's father did before him. Symbiosis is incredible in nature and in this modern age rare between man and beast. Wonderful image Kal.
Guest 26-Jul-2006 11:57
