Splendid. The kid, the bicycle, this warm light. All of them make a wonderful atmospheric photo. V>

Boys and bikes have a very special relationship. There's so much potential in terms of flight and exploration, and of course maintenance.

Lovely, under all aspects. Light, scene... all. Lucie

A playful and curious child, growing up. The bike, a common transport in China, now and then. And the sepia tone gives a nice old feel. Everything seems to fit in well. Just waiting for a story to be told, how it starts...

Simply excellent!

I am with Jenene -- your color images seem to be so full of humanity and, as she says, therefore yourself.
Your black and white images often those of an observer, while your color photos seem to cast you as a participant. You express love for this child, whether it is yours or not.

Profoundly simple... beautiful.

Love the rich colour and toning. It is refreshing to see you do a colour image, even though I prefer black and white.
JSWaters03-Jul-2006 16:51
Kal, As much as I enjoy your b & w's, I really appreciate when you give us a color image. You seem to remove yourself somewhat from the former, and inject a little of your soul in the latter.

very simple but you make it! always curious how could you catch so many great shots in shanghai! it seems I am blind! I shall throw my camera away!
and this shot reminds me of my childhood. love the toning as well!

Wonderful, splendid, I'm overwhelmed with enthusiasm. I love the golden light, the pattern of the sidewalk has something of an ancient sculpture nearly, in this context, but all the essence of the photo is in the gesture of the little boy.
Khal, it's a jewel, it tell so many story, all concentrated in one.
