I love this image, the obvious thing to do would be to have the light shining on the face and bringing out the eyes... the fact that the light is focusing on the shoulder and the torso really makes this image for me... unusual choice but works so well..

this is just perfect. According to Freud, the superego is the moral part of us and develops due to the moral and ethical restraints placed on us by our caregivers. Many equate the superego with the conscience as it dictates our belief of right and wrong.

I cannot think of a better representation of that. Bravissimo, Kal. This gets my vote.

I thought that dialogue had to play some part in this image. Alister's image is unforgettable and so is the commentary that it drew.

Thanks Phil..the inspiration came from a private comment on one of my other images, where someone related the id to our shadow (at least that is how I interpreted the comment). It was no coincidence though that about two weeks ago I was looking at that exact image you linked to and was reading through Marisa's concepts and explanantions of the id. The idea that the id has senses and can converse is and was profound to me...K

This super ego is a blurred light Lucie, like all moral lines. The only true fact is the id (at this stage ;-))....K

Amazing, I agree. This light!
Can the Super ego bring such a light?

Very clever Kal ,this is good work again.

Your abstractions are fascinating, Kal. By focusing on what is dark, and blurring what is light, you are creating incongruities that stimulate the thoughts and imaginations of your viewers. It is more than technique alone that make this image work -- it is your ability to confront us with the opposite of what we might expect.

As for the conversation between id and super ego, I know you have studied and commented on our mutual friend Alister Benn's image on the id. Was this image motivated by it? (It's at:http://www.pbase.com/alibenn/image/45852483 )
