Meridians have dissected our space into destiny. As fish we cannot escape from the global net.Taut wires and less visible strained lines holding us hostage. If not inside this cage, then within another.Alone or together, wherever we swim, however far, the channels have been set. That we may wiggle but not stray far.

I am not sure why I get this idea that this picture is like a big world map and all the vertical and horizontal lines in the picture are like latitude and longtitude. People here are constantly shifting from one place to another..

Easily one of my favorite images from your great work so far. Everything is working well here: fantastic composition, great lighting, perfect b&w treatment, and of course - a powerful story-telling aspect. Very well done. Vote!

Hi, Kal! I love the extreme contrasts within the photo. Not merely the obvious contrasts of the window light and darkness of the shadows created, but also the contrast of the harsh, sharp lines in the windows and the smooth surface of the flooring. Some may see it as a bleak photo, but I get a feeling of 'hope' from it. A sense of things to come; of adventure that awaits the traveler. The photo has everything Phil tries to get us to see: Abstraction, Incongruities, and a sense of Human Values. When I see this photo, I am reminded of how I feel about my soon leaving the USA to move to Asia. Happy Holidays! -- Rodney

Bleak indeed -- the wideangle perspective makes the scale of the terminal building inhumanly large, and by abstracting the people with backlighting, you reduce them to nothings. Because airports are always designed to serve masses of passengers, and sometimes to convey a sense of intimidating grandeur, they are usually quite bleak. Next week I fly to Africa, and this picture has certainly set a mood for me. Happy Holidays, Phil
