This picture, like nearly all yours, can be “read” in different perspective. It might look ironically funny and in a way there is also this component, but on the other hand it can be seen as a gloomy metaphor of frustration.
I like the way you have divided the scene in vertical sectors. The cook is in the background and not in the centre of the scene either, but his presence remain the fundamental point of attention. Is gesture suggest a sense of frustration, as if he perceived that all his efforts have been useless, the restaurant is tidy, but clients are absent…
Maybe reality is only the deformed mirror of imagination once again, maybe it’s simply too early and all will develop in a different way after some time…
