Each image is searingly intimate. Each subject uses the hand as a shield, a tool, and as Alem says, for relief.
Look at how revealing the detail is in both. Each face is partially hidden, but in each case, the surface of the hand more than makes up for it in terms of expression. I agree with Ana when she said that you bring us closer to the man's tiredness. You (and Dorthea Lange) also bring us closer to the subjects soul.

I agree with alem and Ana, this is also my favourite, Kal. My vote for this outstanding picture, too.
One of my all time favourites Kal!!!!!!!!
It's a grand portrait... Amazing in details, amazing in your choice of bringing him so close to us, amazing in the crop.
The choice of showing us nothing but the hand and "its resting place" is powerful and quite intelligent as you've managed to bring us closer to the man's tiredness...
It's just fantastic, why say more?? Congratulations Kal!!
What a great idea to think of the hand as also his relief. When I took the picture, I was simply contrasting his well earned rest with that hand which has so clearly worked so hard. But now you make me think of it as still working, giving him the relief he needs. Cool idea Alem.

fantastic Kal, bravissimo. i can feel how hard is the work of this man.
what I like, in addition, is this: the same hand, which through its work makes the life of this man probably very hard, seems to offer now some sort of relief...
wonderful, Kal. This gets my vote.
