Foreground, midground, background, balance, meaning, purpose, transition, essence of life, curiosity, comfort, teapot, rice bowl, a nap, a boat .... feeling, heart, soul .... you knock me out of my chair again Kal. Don't stop.
Powerful and moving shot , and for me sad, the poor chap must have such a hard life
and yet you get the impression he still removes his shoes, because hes tidy and keeps his home clean.
Funny how things in pictures can mean different tings to to people. For me the shoes were the sybol of home, in china. Outside every house are it's occupanst shoes. Yes dignity, you don't bring the dirt in, but what you say Marisa is very nice too, there is just not enough room any more, so the shoes stay out. I tried to layer this in three layers/dimensions, with the man squeezed at the top, as though the only place left next is out the end of the boat. This image is about perspectives as you say Alem and dignity, and expectations. This man is happy, so why do we need five bedroom houses?

This picture, for me, is about a fundamental value very important in my life. That is dignity. Look at the dignity of this man. When we think of a house we imagine four confortable walls where we all have everything we want. Well, now we see that home can also be a boat. And, no matter how poor it can be, when at home, especially when you sleep, you keep your shoes off. This is not a sad, tough picture. With the dignity of this man, it is a picture of hope in some ways.
So many details to perceive and to see both, in the context, and in their own dimension.
The shoes in foreground add a meanigful touch, a parameter to realize the tigh space. But there is also a sense of peace, and nearly a little philosopshy of life in the acceptance of the concept of "home" where one can sleep nearly serenely.
A very good shot, Kal and I like also the sharpness of the background.
