Hmm, why escape? She works on a ship, and that ship had 1000 people on it (Chinese tourists...which if you have not experienced you should be glad), and everone got off the ship for one half hour on an island, and this was her moment of escape from that world, it was like she was stretching her arms and tryng to fly away to freedom. Ten minutes after this, she was back on the ship. What a life. You can't tell it from the picture. I have re-named it In Between, since I like the expression you saw in it. Thankyou Ana, you are always full of insight!
Escape??
Well, I don't know if this one speaks to me of escape... It's hard to read the woman's facial expression, but from the relaxed body language one would think that she's just so happy. It's a strange gesture she's making though, if for once it looks like she's just swinging her arms in childish like way, at the same time she could be just expressing her dissapointment.
The lines made by the rocks and the water, seem to divide the ground in 3 parts, the lighter one, dry land is like the safe ground in life, she's standing in the middle though, between safety of dryland and the mysterious perils of the water... It's just like in life, we are often standing like that woman, arms swinging and not really knowing which way to go.
In my opinion is a strong image, because of all that we can see beyond that which is actually there...
