The thumbnail of midnight scratched the matchhead.Exploding a flare blinding me with an instant stupor.Frozen as a cigarette figure, stranded, helpless among an inky nowhere.Wondering if the hours would die into doubt. With the fading hum of pearl streetlights having fallen from their string into distant infinity.

Hi, Kal.

Thanks for sending me the link to this photo. I shouldn't have read Phil's comment berfore viewing, because it's biased me! I think this is a good shot that could be made great with some a bit of Photoshop editing to reduce the harsh glare. (Or, here's an idea, maybe a radical crop leaving just the left third of the photo, cutting out the motorcycle entirely?) Regardless, I love the expression on the woman's face, looking away from the motorcycle. Tells a nice story.

You usually abstract with darkness, and you do so here as well. But the prime abstracting force here is the figure trapped in the glare of his own lights. You blind the viewer. It is we who become lost here, because we can't see.
