An iconic image of 21st Century China, Kal. Is that silver box on the man's chest a phone? In any event, he looks wired, and utterly blase. He is in his own zone. And so is she. I noticed that both of these bikes have become part of the blur -- the whole world is moving, and neither of them seems to notice it.
Yes Phil a real lesson on how framing can alter the expression. In the first image "Adrift" the city is the context and the facial epxressions the content. In this image the bikers themselves become the context in the form of blur (through the use of form) , and they also remain the content becasue of the facial expressions. I have altered the context through framing. Images taken seconds apart, but greater abstraction in this case has altered the meaning dramatically.
It is fascinating how different this message is from the one you expressed earlier in "Breeze." The same folks, same bikes, but this is all about speed and anonymity. The disconnect is gone. These riders are in a hurry to get where they are going, and do not even acknowledge each other's presence.
