It was the title that threw me off. You actually accomplished everything you set out to accomplish here, Kal, quite elegantly. The title breeze simply did not make any sense to me. Rather, I think it should have been called "Adrift" They have no idea where they are or who they are. They just go through the motions.
Hi Phil. The main incongruity of this image for me was the lack of joy in the faces of these riders, juxtaposed against the bright lights of fun and life behind them, and the activity they are engaged in. There is no pleasure in this activity for them, they are "disconnected" as you say. I called it breeze, because it seemed that was the only reason they were on the bikes for. Not speed, not fun, not even to go anywhere. Just to cool down, it was almost as if the breeze was the only thing they feel. There is expression I feel here Phil becasue of the incongruent expression on her face, and his face which is totally abstracted and anonymous. Neither of these two people are feeling anything, when they should be feeling free. I just can't think of a title. I also had a second image of them, which conveyed a different expression, which I did not feel was as powerful as this one. I will post it tonight for discussion.
An excellent exercise in form, Kal, but not much content. You add a sense of movement by allowing the background to blur in this pan-shot, but the response you have captured is static and almost bored. Unless that is the point you were trying to make, this image is not really about the excitement of riding a motorbike. It is about commuting in a state of disconnection.
