Rush! Rush!

We live so fast, in this modern world. If we took the time to look at our reflection, we would see how distorted our lives are.

When looking at this image, it immediately gives me a very disturbed feeling, as though the hurrying man, whose face we see, kind of bewildered, is going through a hard time, has something in his life that really takes him apart. In that way, he sees the world as a deformed environment in which he plays no part. He's looking at himself. He is bearing a heavy cross.

This is an incredibly strong image. It's all about pain in life for me. V.

The new age jewel dangles with fascination, deception, intrigue and promises before our grasp. We are trapped, crucified, among its many facets.Like a doomed insect petrified, scared, within an amber prison.Attempting futile escape.Wishing to flee with the mercury disguises that run over its face.Hoping to peel away with the flux of transient brilliance. But we are marked game within its dimensions. Our borders decreed and channels coagulated.

This is really amazing. I notice that your titles (like this one) lend so much more meaning to the photos. It's inspired me to think harder about the titles of mine. For this photo, I wonder, did you position yourself at this scene and wait for someone to run by? Or, did you just happen to catch this great shot as it was happening?

You worked it well, Kal. Yes, I see the cross, too, and its iconic reference. But I also see this image as a maze of choices we face. We live in a world of constant options, many of them quite bewildering. I see her as avoiding these choices, running past them with barely a second glance. I agree with you that this image can also be about distortion in life, as well. A very challenging, thought provoking image. You have matured as a photographer so much in the last few weeks, Kal -- the growth is amazing. You are obviously taking more time, exploring more options, and you are benefiting from more luck, too. Whenever anyone tells me that a shot was a "lucky" one, I always note that's not an accident that skilled expressive photographers tend to have more "luck" than everyday photographers. They work at it. Luck is, as someone once said, the "residue of design."

Thank you Ana for the kind and positive feedback. I have been reading alot of Henri Cartier-Bresson's words on phography recently. In an interview about one year before his death, he was asked what was the greatest reason why he fealt that he made such great photo-journalistic photographs. His comment is sobering, but also modest...Luck. You can prepare and recognise the decisive moment, but what you get when you press that button is also affected by luck. I "worked" this shot as Phil would say, and luck was on my side.

I am fascinated by photos that take advantage of reflections and your does that to an incredible extent!! You managed to shot this at the exxact moment that the person was crossing the image and to me the most impressive is that we see the person looking traight at us! That tiny part of the photo that is not distorted! It is fantastic. A brillian moment kal.
I think you are right, this can relate to the fast pace of modern life and it's true that when we take the time to look at our lifes... Surprise! We might see something like this indeed.
I really love this one so much, that you wouldn't believe it!!! Wonderful! This one is the kind of photo that I wish I could have made... I am very happy that it was you instead my friend.
My most sincere congratulations on this fantastic shot.

Profound Jen, and the cross is the key to the picture. The cross is very noticeable, it is from a distance the first thing you notice, and it speaks of the lost search for spirituality. It is also the only non-distorted form in the image, the anchor for the picture. The face is at the centre of the cross as though looking in to his own spirituality. If you look carefully, this is a thoughtful face that is looking straight in to his very soul.

Hi Kal, I think this photo works!
First of all, the reflection of the world is so unfamilar to us because we never look at the world in that way, and we think what we see is the reality but how do we know if that is true.. Secondly, there is indeed a decisive moment here, you captured her running and at the same time looking into "mirror", was she also realizing something about life? Last but not least, there is the shape of Cross on that "mirror" which to me implies human belief, however, she is actually running away from it, does she have belief in her life? She seems lost in the world, desperately runs away, to no where.
