An era curtain drapes through our country air.Hanging white as a dream that seems satin surreal. With hemmed marionette shadows sewn among our cultural fabric.Playing their games of sentimental passage, chance and strategy. Then fading, kneaded into the folds of a memory fable.

An excellent image, presenting China in layers. The woman flashes the universal peace sign, expressing a series of human values instantly - confidence, optimism, and peaceful. She is proud, affirming, and not afraid to stand up for what she believes in. If this be a political statement, so be it. It works. Behind her a man appears to be playing cards by himself, a symbol of complacency and nostalgia. Old China, indeed. And behind him is an empty room -- a symbol of ideas that are long gone. An even older China, perhaps. The empty room is an abstraction, the woman and man are complete opposites - an incongruity. A very expressive image, Kal.
