Wadi Rum is a valley cut into the sandstone and granite rock in southwest Jordan. It is the largest wadi in Jordan. The name Rum most likely comes from an Aramaic root meaning 'high' or 'elevated'. The area is inhabited primarily by the Bedouin people, and has been the site for such movies as "Lawrence of Arabia", and "Red Planet". We used 4-wheel drive vehicles to drive through the area.
