This was the pre-trip for the South Africa Safaris and Swaziland trip. The Entabeni Game reserve is a private game reserve about 170 miles north of Johannesburg. A key characteristic of private game reserves, is that unlike National Parks, in a private game reserve, safari vehicles can go off-road, and in many cases, get much closer to the animals.
We stayed at one of the lodges at the top of the escarpment, and did six game drives on both the escarpment, and in the plains several hundred feet below.

and back up again - the hard part :)

A Klipsringer
Lodge cabins on the plains part of the Reserve. The vacationers are probably out looking for elephants :)
A Hyrax. Interestingly, these furry little animals have a lot of characteristics similar to elephants and manatees.
