An Independent trip to New Zealand and Fiji in July 2010. July is the middle of winter in New Zealand, and Fiji, about 1,000 miles due north of Auckland, NZ, is tropical all year round, with only slight temperature variations during the year. Fiji is a popular vacation spot for Kiwis and Aussies, looking to escape their cold winters. We spent about 2 weeks in New Zealand, mostly on the South Island, and a few days of R & R in Fiji before heading home to the U.S.
