The London Eye | Victoria and Albert Museum

The London Eye

By pure luck, we got to the London Eye on a picture postcard blue sky day. Even though the area was mobbed, we managed to get fast-track tickets for the standard price, and avoided the long, long lines. They really have this wheel down to a science. 25 people get off one car and a new set of 25 get on without the wheel ever needing to stop. The capsules are not suspended like on a regular Ferris wheel, but are attached to the wheel's rim and are rotated to always keep the capsule in a flat upright position. The views from the wheel are spectacular especially on a clear sunshining day. A complete rotation of the wheel takes 30 minutes. Compared to the prices at some of the other London attractions, the Eye is not out of line at all, and well worth it.
