Famous for its limestone Karst formations, Yangshuo lies near the confluence of the Li and Yu Long rivers. The keen photographer can hike, bike or raft up and down the river in search of photogenic scenery. The first day I hired a guide and hiked about 15 km on slippery muddy trails up along the Yulong river, visiting some local villages on the way. It rained on and off most of the day. The second day I'd planned to get a boat down to save the ageing legs, but rising waters and fast flows had grounded the watercraft that day. I settled for a taxi and a series of limited forays to Fuli, the Li River at Xingping, and Moon Hill. There are also a few shots from the tourist precinct downtown
