Changchun is the capital city of Jilin Province, home to the Jilin University and it was also the capital of the Japanese puppet state Manchukuo. My son spent a year here studying mandarin, and a visit to him was what drew me to the Northeast. It's a large sprawling rustbelt city with little of note except the former Puppet Imperial Palace, residence of Pu Yi.
