Telephoto Test

These are test shots using my A70 of the blue car about 50 yards away in all shots. The test include a wide-angle shot, a full 3X optical zoom, 3X optical zoom plus 2X convertor, 3X optical zoom plus 8x32 CrystalVue monocular, 3X optical zoom plus 8X32 CrystalVue monocular plus 2x convertor (about 1700mm in 35mm equivilent). Also some digital zoom shots included for comparison.

Steve: I was QUITE interested in your "A70 telephoto" gallery, as I've just purchased an A70 and was shopping for a teleconverter. I found the CrystalVue 8x32 lens results very interesting, saw the product on another webpage for sale (about $150), and have to ask: -- how severe is the "vignetting" (black corners) effect with this device? -- do you have to have the camera-zoom set to max (3x) to get best use from it? -- how does the combination of lens and camera feel - awkward, or not? Thanks!
