The Hallidie Building was designed by architect Willis Polk and was completed in 1918. Now home to the San Francisco chapter of the American Institute of Architects, it is credited as one of the first buildings in the United Stated to feature glass curtain walls. The sheet metal friezes, cornices, balconies, and fire escapes underwent a two-year restoration, completed in 2013. The Hallidie Building is a truly beautiful work of architecture and one of San Francisco's gems.
