The red boar's head with green oak branch and acorn was
suggested by the crest of the coat of arms of Sir James
Oglethorpe, the founder of the colony. The boar is symbolic
of courage and ferocitu in attack; it is also a symbol of
hospitality. The white and red color of the wreath refer to
the English origin of the first settlement in the colony.
