The 99th Battalion Combat Team was organized
in 1956 at Fort Rucker, Alabama, but is no longer
active. The two stylized figures on the patch suggest
two "9's" (one facing the other) — the unit's number.
The figures also suggest the pull-ring and the lever
of a hand grenade and allude to the unit's ability
to arm and strike wherever needed. The lightning
flash represents the effective teamwork employed by all
of the unit's elements:
Artillery (red). Infantry (blue), and Armor (yellow).
