The Thirty-First Corps is one of the phantom
organizations created on paper as part of the
Operation Fortitude plan and was never activated.
The shoulder patch for the XXXI Corps was approved
by the QMG on August 3rd, 1944. The design is blue and
white to indicate the Corps' distinguishing flag, and
the points of the three arrows give the impression
of meeting at one place to form a perfect score.
The three arrows form together to indicate the unit's
numerical designation.
