II

The Second Corps was activated on August 1st, 1940, with
Headquarters at Fort Jay, New York, and embarked for the European
theater in July of 1942 where a HQ was established at Salisbury,
Wiltshire, in Southern England.

The shoulder patch worn by the Second Corps was based on a
design approved by the AEF on January 13th, 1919. The colors
blue and white are from the Corps' distinguishing flag, and
the Roman numeral "II" represents the unit's number. The
British lion suggests WW I service with the British Army,
and the eagle represents WW I service with the American Army.
