The 59th Infantry Division insignia was
approved but the date is uncertain as only an
undated drawing of the patch could be located.

The blue disc represents Infantry, and the snake is
from the Rattlesnake Flags of the American Revolution period.
The snake represented the original 13 Colonies and their
strength when joined together and was portrayed with the warning,
"Don't tread on me."
