The sword and the colors blue and yellow represent the
infantry mission of the organization. Its double-edged
form represents marshal prowess, boldness, and hardiness,
the cutting edge of the advance. Scarlet and white refer
to the combat engineers, scarlet and yellow are symbolic
of the field artillery elements, and yellow is for armor.
The red disc and white circle refer to the buckeye symbol,
taken from the Ohio state flag, and allude to the unit's
home area as well as its past service with the
Thirty-seventh Infantry Division.

World War II (Northern Solomons, Luzon).
