Our primary interest was exploring Newport Bay itself. We wanted to cruise along all the channels and islands. The scenery is incredible! Landscaping and architecture are lavish and some of the mansions leave one speechless. Waterfront homes often have private docks. Hundreds of yachts and power boats are docked or moored along the waterways.

As we cruised along the endless rows of houses and mansions it became too much to see. Even the smallest homes are worth millions. There must be at least a billion dollars worth of real estate along these waterways.

Amazing was the number of sailing clubs and schools providing training in centerboard dinghies of all sizes. We observed groups of young sailors doing basic sailing training up to more advanced capsize exercises. It was really nice to see all those future sailors on the water!
