San Francisco Tall-Ship Parade 28.Aug.2002

The San Francisco Tall Ship Parade turned out to be an event of a very moderate size. Unfortunately all larger ships have canceled the participation. The parade itself was chosen to be a Wednesday, what contributed to a relatively small number of spectators. Probably the main attraction were the historic vessels or replicas:

Lynx : a replica of a Privateer from the independence war.
Niņa : a replica of one of the ships of Christobal Columbus.
U.S.S. Potomac : F.D.Roosevelt "swimming White House".

The wind was 20-25 knots, with ghosts up to 30 knots. It was cold and the typical stratus was moving fast with the wind and obscuring the Bay. The wind was very chilly but we were fortunate that the stratus stayed some
30-40 feet above the bridge level, what allowed us to view the ships from above.
