North Korea - Mt. Kumgang area

These photos were taken in June 2014 in North Korea near Mt. Kumgang

North Korea used to allow South Korean visitors into this area as part of a secured tourist region. Per Wikipedia, more than a million South Korean tourists had visited the area by 2005. Tourism from the south was suspended by South Korea after the 2008 shooting of a South Korean woman. Most of the hotels, restaurants and other tourist sites are now empty as only a few tourists, mostly Chinese, are now allowed into the region. A few Westerners have been allowed into the region in recent years, including our group.
