Result was a bimalleolar fracture, meaning that both the tibia and fibula were broken around the ankle. This required surgery to repair, plus 3 weeks in a post-surgery splint, then 4 weeks in a cast, and at least 6 weeks of physical therapy. It may be late June before I'm herping in the woods again. At least it was a clean break, and no tendons or ligaments were damaged.
