Sideways Medusa

This is one of two Medusa heads propping up columns.
The other one is upside down, and this one on its side, though no one really knows why.
The heads - along with other material used in the building of the cistern - would have originally been used elsewhere in the Roman Empire.
An ancient example of recycling.
