Fishing for Bait - River Rise 2008

Bonnet Carre' Spillway

I could have stayed all day listening to the water of the Mississippi River as it came through the cracks in the Spillway locks, in background, and rushed on its way to Lake Pontchartrain. The sun was out and a wind was blowing my hair until it was one knotted mess, but it was lovely to be out here.
These fishermen had quite a few fish already when I showed up. I saw two pickup trucks loaded with fish covered with ice on their way to a fish market.
With the rushing, powerful current of the swollen Mississippi the fish have no choice but to go with the flow and are easy prey.
